What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants have three distinct sections. The implant itself, made of titanium or zirconia, is a screw placed in the jawbone to replace the missing tooth’s root. A crown or dental prosthetic replaces the visible portion of the missing tooth. An abutment, a slender pin or fastener, joins it to the implant. These three sections work together to function like a natural tooth. Once the implant is placed in the jawbone, it bonds with the surrounding bone, establishing a stable foundation for the artificial teeth.
Dental implants preserve a healthy jawbone by stimulating bone growth, helping maintain the positions of any remaining natural teeth, and preserving facial contours. They are also more comfortable than dentures and do not have to be removed for sleeping or cleaning.

- Single Tooth Implant – A single crown replaces one missing tooth — each prosthetic tooth attaches to its implant.
- Fixed Bridge Implant – A permanent fixed bridge can replace two or more teeth and may require only two or three implants.
- Full Arch Dental Implant—A complete fixed bridge replaces all your upper or lower jaw teeth. The number of implants varies depending on which type of complete prosthesis (removable or fixed) is recommended.
- Implant-Supported Denture—A removable prosthesis (overdenture) attaches to a bar or ball-in-socket attachment. In contrast, a fixed prosthesis is permanent and removable only by a professional.
